We are looking for a Shipper with a Class 1 License to join our Shipping team. As the Shipping team, we work together to collect completed windows and doors, manually loading trailers to ensure that our customers receive their products on-time, with a focus on safety, and quality. As part of the role, you will be responsible to shunt trailers as needed. Shift: Tuesday to Friday; 6:00am to 4:30pm
In this role, you will be responsible to:
- Work as a member of the shipping team focusing on efficiency, safety, and quality
- Inspect units prior to being received, ensuring that units meet quality, packaging and height restrictions, and standards
- Scan units prior to storage or loading and ensure units are stored and loaded into appropriate bin or van
- Physically transport units to and from the allocated bin
- Ensure units are stored and loaded correctly and ensure on- time completion
- Train new staff
- Complete regular dock audits
- Build crates for glass and windows
- Perform Back-Up Driver duties as required, based on business need
- Locate and relocate trailers to accommodate efficient loading and unloading, monitor trailers for tampering and communicate security concerns to Transportation
- Deliver product to customers in Steinbach, Winnipeg, and the surrounding area, leading and assisting with unloading and ensuring unit count is correct and product is not damaged
- Communicate with customers regarding estimated time of arrival
- Conduct pre and post trip inspections, schedule repairs, and advise leadership as required
- Investigate local Spring Road Restrictions prior to delivering product
- Flex and cross train as required by leadership
- Other duties as assigned
You will bring:
- Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement, able to operate all Class 1 vehicles including manual transmission
- Minimum 1 year driving experience
- Effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Strong mathematical skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Strong focus on safety, quality and precision details
- Ability to frequently lift up to 100lbs., or more with assistance
- Experience in manufacturing, wood working, carpentry is an asset
