What we need:
The Support Services Supervisor will utilize strong organizational, leadership and communication skills, technical knowledge of Housekeeping and the related services to oversee the Environmental Services Department and its daily operations. The successful candidate will also be required to oversee and assist Portering, Linen and Laundry and Materials Management as required.
Work Schedule:
The successful incumbent will be required to work rotating weekends and holidays as required, with availability of days for coverage as needed. The current shifts are currently 0800-1600 and 1600-2400. Schedules may change based on departmental needs.
Compensation:
BAND N: $34.33 - $41.77 per hour
What you bring to MSH:
Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is preferred
Completion of the OHA Environmental Services Certificate is required
Excellent knowledge of CSA and PIDAC standards as they relate to Environmental Services in Healthcare
Excellent knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
Excellent knowledge of WHMIS and healthcare regulations
Previous scheduling experience in a unionized environment
Excellent knowledge of Infection Control and related practices and procedures
Knowledge of Environmental Protection Act and associated regulations
Biohazardous and hazardous waste handling
Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and associated regulations
Excellent Computer skills
Microsoft programs and operating systems
Knowledge of Meditech is preferred
Familiarity with Collective Agreements
Understanding of and the ability to troubleshoot Housekeeping equipmnent
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The ability to problem solve and resolve conflicts
The ability to motivate staff, build and maintain effective teams
Familiarity with contracts and procurement processes
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
