Skid Steer Operator

NorthCrew General Contracting is looking for an experienced Skid Steer Operator to join our field crew for upcoming civil construction work in the Fort McMurray and Fort McKay area.
This is a hands-on field position for an operator who is comfortable working independently, taking direction from the site foreman, and assisting the crew wherever required.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a CAT 289D compact track loader/skid steer
- Rough and finish grading
- Gravel and aggregate placement
- Backfilling and site preparation
- Loading, moving and stockpiling material
- Assist with culvert, drainage and excavation work
- Operate attachments as required
- Complete daily pre-use and post-use equipment inspections
- Track equipment hours and report defects or maintenance concerns
- Work from grades, stakes and direction provided by the foreman
- Maintain productive and safe work areas
- Perform general labour duties when equipment operation is not required
- Participate in FLHAs, toolbox meetings and other required safety documentation
- Follow NorthCrew and client/site safety requirements
What We're Looking For
- Proven skid steer operating experience required
- Civil construction, earthworks or road-building experience strongly preferred
- Experience with rough and finish grading
- Comfortable operating around workers, trucks and other equipment
- Able to perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Good understanding of safe equipment operation
- Reliable and able to work as part of a small crew
- Valid driver's licence
- Able to work outdoors in changing Northern Alberta conditions
Experience with culverts, drainage, excavation, aggregate placement, compaction or other heavy equipment is an asset.
Current CSTS/CSO, WHMIS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance or other applicable safety tickets are assets. Required project-specific training will be confirmed prior to mobilization.
Schedule
- 5 days on / 2 days off
- Approximately 40–50 hours per week
- Work primarily in the Fort McMurray / Fort McKay area
- Position is initially project-based, with opportunity for continued work as NorthCrew's workload grows
