Fraser River All Nations Aboriginal Society is a small non-profit in Maple Ridge, BC. We are professional, supportive, collaborative, and our goal is to provide services and programs for the Urban Indigenous community to acknowledge their past, present, and future generations.
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated FSW to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support for Indigenous families, and communities in need. This includes providing options for clients, and connecting them with resources that can help families towards reunification and wellness with strength based and trauma informed approach. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of factors of colonization, familiar with internal services of MCFD and be committed to walking along side those in need.
Requirements
This position requires a bachelor degree in Human related field and minimum 2 years recent experience directly working in family, child and youth services front line and intensive case management. Candidate will have to have experience working with Indigenous families (Urban/Rural).
Demonstrate knowledge of local community resources
- Demonstrate the physical ability required to carry a child in a car seat
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team model
- Possess strong computer skills: Office 365, MS Office suite, CAMS
- Experience supporting court involved families (accompaniments, record submissions)
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license, own reliable vehicle, with Business Use and 3 million liability insurance and safe driving record (abstract required)
- Criminal record check working with children and vulnerable people is a requirement of all employees of FRIS.
- Required Standard First Aid w/CPR/AED Level C
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention services to individuals and families.
- Assess and evaluate social, emotional, and cultural needs of participants.
- Develop and implement intensive case management plans for participants.
- Work with other professionals to coordinate services for families.
- Provide advocacy services to individuals, families, and groups.
- Maintain accurate records of client information and progress.
- Engage in, and support planning for community life skills and cultural programs and events.
