POSITION TITLE: Casual Night Residential Care Worker – Villa Rosa
Casual Night Residential Care Worker – Postnatal House
Supervisor: Debra Kelly, House Manager
Purpose of Position: The Residential Care Worker is responsible for housekeeping during their shift. The Residential Care Worker also provides supervision and support to the residents during the night.
Villa Rosa midnight to 8:00a.m.
Postnatal House 7:00p.m. to 7:00a.m.
OVERVIEW:

Villa Rosa team. To communicate appropriately and effectively within the team. To promote the well-being of the users of our services and the functioning of the team.
Specific Duties:
1. To provide supervision to the residents when required during the hours of the night shift: Villa Rosa midnight to 8:00a.m. and Postnatal house 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.:
a. To meet with the evening Residential Care Worker at 11:50 p.m. to discuss the report on the residents.
b. To make rounds of the building.
c. To encourage the residents to take advantage of 8 hours of sleep time.
d. To document all activities during their shift on ROSE.
2. To assist a resident when they are experiencing any difficulty and call the Night
Residential Care worker.
a. Hold babies so new mothers can get some sleep, as requested.
b. When a resident is in labour, to provide extra attention, reassurance and support.
c. Call their doula, midwife, or labour support person as requested.
d. To be a support to mother and infants as needed.
e. To provide extra attention, reassurance, support to residents.
3. Residential Care Worker Duties:
a. Villa Rosa: cleaning parts of the building.
b. Postnatal House: attending to building issues, cleaning apartments after resident moves out.
c. Interactions with external publics: answer doorbell and telephone, take messages and passes them on in the morning or as appropriate.
d. Security of building: checking and locking doors and windows, make security check on residents’ well-being and building, follow security procedure if fire alarm is activated.
4. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience working with or having raised teenagers.
2. Good housekeeping skills.
3. Ability to react positively in tense situations.
4. Child and Family Services, Child Abuse and Police Record checks.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Home maintenance and housekeeping;
2. Volunteer work or involvement with adolescents and young mothers and babies an asset.
3. Experience with prenatal and postnatal care.
EDUCATION:
1. Some university or diploma in social services or youth care.
2. Grade XII or equivalent.
3. First Aid and C.P.R. Certificates.
