Role Description

The Head, HR Technology is responsible for planning, developing and implementing HR and Employee Experience platforms aligned with corporate strategies and priorities; ensuring the integration of HR aligned and enterprise processes into the HR technology ecosystem and, leading the organization’s approach to HR metrics and analytics.

This involves resource management, financial management and people management for HR Technology Teams – including but not limited to Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Software Developers, QA and external contractors.

The role is also accountable for unit specific 1st line risk management and controls, security, compliance and execution

Accountabilities:
Accountable to develop an integrated view with the business leadership team on how technology platforms can best deliver high quality service for our employees.

Build, in collaboration with HR leadership and Corporate Service leaders, the Canadian HR technology vision and multi-year “blueprint” for HR and Employee Experience, championing systems modernization and transformation, business process automation, delivering solutions and supporting corporate strategies and priorities.
Articulate technology opportunities and constraints in the development of the business plan
Maintain pulse on emerging technologies and service provider options and a pulse on what our competitors are undertaking including administrative and core systems perspective
Develop and maintain senior level relationships with other Information Technology leaders (Canada Technology and other geographic locations), external vendors and industry forums for the purpose of understanding product and technology directions
Develop long-range plans and drive effective application of technology to support business strategy achievement
Develop, implement and sustain an enterprise-wide approach and strategy for HR performance measurement, reporting and analytics.
Coordinate HR technology initiatives and planning, in alignment with IT strategic planning to ensure integration of HR technology priorities.
Align IT talent demand/supply forecast with business plan
Accountable to ensure high quality delivery of leading-edge solutions that meet time and cost requirements:

Lead all HR technology project and priorities, ensuring alignment to business and HR strategies, and promoting an integrated technology ecosystem that reduces administration and enable automation wherever possible.
Drive long term and daily operations of IT operations ensuring the efficient and effective use of financial and people resources
Responsible for all aspects of technology delivery and support, with recommendations around application health based on assessments
Translate IT project plans, new IT demands and business growth impacts on technology and resources
Ensure development and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure that underpin the business product and service offering
Accountable to proactively work with internal clients and other enterprise segments to understand organizational needs and work to deliver creative solutions and propagate best practices

Works with Corporate Services and Canadian technology leaders in Canada and, with peers in other segments to understand HR Technology best practices and Employee Experience relative to target states, determine root causes of unnecessary efforts in those experiences and design technology-based solutions
Ensure IT systems capabilities align with current and future business needs
Collaborates with IT leaders to influence the evolution of practices, processes, methods, methodologies and standards so these are customer-oriented rather than technology oriented
Drive a high-performance culture for staff and support the culture changes within the technology team as a senior leader in the organization

Create goal clarity, role and accountability clarity, and provide direction on decision rights and accountabilities
Ensure leaders, employees and vendors work together to drive performance and that high expectations are delivered within the values of the organization
Define market-leading service standards and manage team to deliver on them
Identify opportunities (processes, training, systems) that should be invested in to enhance individual and team effectiveness
Balance IT supply and demand in accordance with supply constraints and business plans
Accountable to manage an integrated view of HR technology investment and operations with the business leadership team

Contribute to the annual business planning process by providing a consolidated financial view of IT operations and investment
Maintain a consolidated current and projected in year financial view of IT operations and investments.
Maintain a multi-year operational forecast for application systems and services, maintenance and other related support activities.

Post-Secondary degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
