Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Kitchen Manager to oversee daily operations in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive restaurant management experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards, managing food preparation and cooking processes, and maintaining a high level of hospitality. Previous experience with POS systems such as Micros is preferred, along with a solid background in food handling, restaurant operations, and team management. A background in hospitality or hotel food service is a plus. The Kitchen Manager will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and fostering a positive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food preparation and cooking processes
- Supervise kitchen staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling team members
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in compliance with health regulations
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper food handling procedures are followed
- Ensure consistent quality of food presentation and taste
- Handle cash transactions and POS operations using Micros or similar systems
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing guest inquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Lead by example to foster teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment
- Monitor kitchen performance metrics and implement improvements as needed
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless restaurant operations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant management or food service supervision
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Experience with POS systems such as Micros or similar platforms
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively
- Excellent customer service skills with a hospitality-focused approach
- Background in food handling, restaurant experience, or hotel food services preferred
- Ability to oversee kitchen operations during busy hours while maintaining quality standards
- Experience with interviewing and training staff is highly desirable
- Knowledge of the food industry trends and best practices in restaurant management
- Previous barista or serving experience is considered an asset
