Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Line Cook to join the Uncle Pete’s crew. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who thrives in the heat of a busy kitchen and takes pride in their work. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, solid cooking fundamentals, and a passion for creating consistent, delicious food — every time. You’ll work alongside a small, tight-knit team to prep, cook, and plate our signature sandwiches, soups, and seasonal specials with care and precision.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items with consistency and attention to detail.
- Execute daily prep work for sauces, proteins, vegetables, and other ingredients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, ensuring the kitchen is ready for service and properly shut down at end of day.
- Support kitchen leadership with inventory, ingredient tracking, and ordering from suppliers.
- Ensure food quality, portioning, and presentation align with Uncle Pete’s standards.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house and kitchen staff to maintain smooth service.
- Manage and fulfill online orders through platforms such as Uber Eats and SquareSpace.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols in line with Toronto Public Health requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in a fast-paced restaurant or café environment.
- Food Handler Certification (required).
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Customer-facing experience with a friendly, outgoing, and high-energy demeanor.
- Experience with sauce production, complex recipes, and high-precision execution.
- Strong organizational skills and an eye for cleanliness.
- Experience with inventory, ordering, and supplier management is a bonus.
- Familiarity with online ordering platforms like Uber Eats is key.
- Opening and closing experience required.
- Driver’s license and/or culinary degree are considered bonuses.
