Position Summary
This unique position combines leadership of the Sexual Violence Centre with the provision of direct therapeutic counselling services. The successful candidate will oversee the coordination of centre operations, community partnerships, outreach initiatives, and prevention programming while also providing individual counselling to survivors of sexual violence.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, compassionate professional with strong leadership, clinical, and organizational skills who is committed to survivor-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice.
Key Responsibilities
Sexual Violence Centre Coordinator (Part-Time)
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Océane Sexual Violence Centre.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services that support survivors.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and justice partners.
- Coordinate community outreach, awareness campaigns, and violence prevention initiatives.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers, students, and program staff as assigned.
- Assist with program planning, reporting, grant requirements, and data collection.
- Participate in community committees and collaborative initiatives related to sexual violence prevention and response.
- Ensure services comply with organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable legislation.
Therapeutic Counsellor (Part-Time)
- Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centred individual counselling to clients impacted by sexual violence.
- Conduct client assessments and collaboratively develop treatment goals.
- Deliver evidence-informed therapeutic interventions appropriate to client needs.
- Support clients with safety planning, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and recovery.
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation and case records.
- Provide referrals and collaborate with community partners to ensure coordinated care.
- Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and professional development.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body.
- Experience providing trauma-informed counselling.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the dynamics and impacts of sexual violence, trauma, and recovery.
- Experience in program coordination, community engagement, or non-profit leadership.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic client documentation systems.
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation (if required).
- Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Preferred
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups.
- Training in trauma-focused therapies
- Experience with grant reporting, program evaluation, or community education.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, newcomers, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, youth, and other diverse populations.
