Progressive Turf Equipment has been a leader in the industry for over 30 years producing specialized grass cutting equipment for golf courses, sod producers, municipalities for grounds care, sports turf maintenance and professional landscapers.
We are looking to hire a General Manager with an engineering background to join our team at our Seaforth, Ontario location as we introduce an exciting new product to the marketplace, as well as continue our strategy to expand our market presence.
Under the supervision of the Vice President the duties and responsibilities of the General Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee and manage production planning and scheduling.
- Ensure appropriate purchasing for all manufacturing / engineering equipment and supplies.
- Manage quality assurance - setting quality standards, maintaining quality.
- Responsible for policy development, installation and maintenance.
- Manage plant & equipment preventative maintenance program.
- Ensure on-going process and manufacturing capability improvement.
- Set training standards and operation performance testing.
- Manage compliance with Provincial/Territorial, Local and Federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with company needs for capital investments and improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
- Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
- Oversee manufacturing and materials departments and review production and operating reports, resolving operational, manufacturing, and facility problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays and to meet future growth.
- Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
- Review and support Engineering and Sales to oversee design concepts with fundamental or new technology used for new or existing products or improvement to provide cost reduction, safety, customer requirements and market growth.
- Develop Team-Work and motivate members through setting of clear expectations and recognize and reward outstanding performance.
- Interview, select, train and conduct performance evaluations of the staff.
- Administer wages and salary; develop goals and procedures to ensure achievement of goals.
- Take part in vendor and consultant selection and manage the work of consultants as well as review contractor invoices.
- Purchase equipment and supplies as required.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Experienced with bringing a new product to the marketplace.
- Experience working in manufacturing industry is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, or mechanical systems as they relate to mowing equipment is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel when required;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Strong attention to detail;
- High energy and a positive attitude while taking initiative; and
- Strong technical knowledge.
