Rate: Compensation & Placement Salary is determined by the Albert College Faculty Grid, ranging from $64,272 – $83,976 for early-career faculty and $72,480 – $111,648 for those with 6+ years of experience. Final placement is based on recognized teaching years, degrees, and Additional Qualifications (AQs).

Albert College is an independent day and boarding school for students in PK to Grade 12 in Belleville, Ontario. Albert College is seeking an enthusiastic, caring and dedicated Primary teacher to join our Junior School team. The successful candidate will be an engaging and relational educator who understands the unique developmental needs of young children and is passionate about creating a classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, challenged and excited to learn.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working in Primary grades, or a strong understanding of early childhood development;
- Create a warm, inclusive and engaging classroom environment built on strong relationships and a sense of belonging;
- Embrace play-based, inquiry-based and experiential approaches to learning;
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of early literacy and numeracy development, including effective phonics, reading, writing and mathematical instruction;
- Develop and implement engaging curriculum and assessment practices appropriate to the age and developmental stage of students;
- Use differentiation and responsive teaching strategies to meet a range of learning needs;
- Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning, emotional coaching and self-regulation strategies into daily classroom practice;
- Support students in developing independence, confidence, communication skills and positive relationships with peers;
- Communicate effectively and positively with parents, colleagues and the wider school community;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, Learning Support and other members of the Junior School team;
- Embrace Albert College’s values of Individuality, Compassion, Integrity, Diversity & Inclusion, and Optimism;
- Be comfortable integrating technology into teaching, learning and communication;
- Demonstrate a willingness to engage students in co-curricular experiences across the Five A’s, both within and beyond the classroom;
- Hold Ontario College of Teachers certification or an equivalent teaching qualification with Primary/Junior qualifications.
Experience with inquiry-based learning, structured literacy, outdoor/experiential education, or the integration of the arts would be considered an asset.
