This is not an entry-level role. We are seeking someone with appliance retail sales experience who can contribute immediately with minimal training and take ownership of their responsibilities.
About the Position
SMS Appliances is seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated Appliance Service Technician to join our team. This position involves diagnosing and repairing household appliances at customer locations, performing in-shop repairs at our warehouse when required, delivering appliances to customers, picking up appliances from suppliers and partner locations, and transporting scrap appliances for disposal. And helping at the store when needed, with receiving shipments and organaizing the store.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, works well independently, and has experience in appliance repair, delivery services, and commercial driving.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair household appliances at customer homes and businesses.
- Perform appliance repairs and maintenance at our warehouse and retail locations.
- Install and test appliances as required.
- Deliver appliances safely and professionally to customers.
- Pick up appliances, parts, and equipment from suppliers, warehouses, and other company locations.
- Transport scrap appliances and materials to recycling or disposal facilities.
- Complete service reports, repair documentation, and delivery records.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally.
- Work independently.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and transportation regulations.
- Help at the store when needed, with receiving shipments and organaizing the store.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Appliance Technician, Service Technician, or similar role.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience repairing major household appliances, including refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, and microwaves.
- Valid Heavy Truck Driver's Licence (Class 1A or equivalent).
- Clean driving record.
- Experience operating delivery vehicles and transporting large appliances.
- Ability to safely load, unload, and move heavy appliances.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer and mobile device skills for service documentation.
Requirements
- Valid driver's licence with appropriate commercial endorsements.
- Ability to lift and move appliances weighing up to 100 lbs or more with assistance and equipment.
- Ability to travel throughout Saskatchewan for service calls and deliveries.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
