Front of House Server (Smart Serve Required)
Bridger St. Diner is seeking a friendly, professional, and dependable Front of House Server to join our growing team. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, quality food, and a welcoming atmosphere for every guest.
We are looking for someone who is energetic, organized, and takes pride in maintaining a clean, efficient, and guest-focused restaurant. As a licensed establishment, all applicants must possess a valid Ontario Smart Serve Certificate and demonstrate responsible alcohol service.
Job Summary
The Front of House Server is responsible for creating an outstanding dining experience by providing friendly, efficient, and professional service from the moment guests arrive until they leave. This role requires excellent communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining a clean dining room, ensuring service stations are fully stocked, communicating with the kitchen regarding daily specials and product availability, serving food and alcoholic beverages responsibly, and supporting the entire team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Guest Service
- Welcome every guest with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Seat guests promptly when required.
- Present menus and explain daily specials.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders.
- Serve food and alcoholic beverages according to Smart Serve regulations.
- Monitor guests throughout their visit to ensure satisfaction.
- Answer menu questions and make recommendations.
- Upsell appetizers, beverages, desserts, and daily specials.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and promptly.
- Process payments accurately using the POS system.
- Thank guests and invite them to return.
Qualifications Required
- Maintain open communication with kitchen staff and management.
- Support fellow team members during busy periods.
- Assist with food running and table clearing when needed.
- Contribute to a respectful, positive, and professional workplace.
- Valid Ontario Smart Serve Certificate.
- Previous serving or restaurant experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred
- Experience using restaurant POS systems.
- Cash handling experience.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Hospitality or customer service experience.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
