Recovery Alberta has an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare leader to join the Psychiatry and Mental Health Services – Community portfolio as the Director, Adult Outpatient Services (Edmonton & Calgary). The Community portfolio is responsible for advancing integrated, recovery-oriented addiction and mental health services and delivering accessible, evidence-informed, person- and family-centered care across the continuum of community-based services. Working closely with physician leaders, operational leaders, community partners, and individuals with lived and living experience, the successful candidate will provide leadership for a broad portfolio of adult outpatient mental health services across Alberta's two largest urban centers. The Director will support the continued evolution of outpatient services in Edmonton and Calgary, ensuring high-quality, coordinated, and sustainable care that aligns with Recovery Alberta's strategic priorities and commitment to advancing Alberta's recovery-oriented systems of care. The role will play a key leadership function in strengthening service integration, improving access, and supporting innovative approaches to care delivery across urban outpatient addiction and mental health services. The Director, Adult Outpatient Services (Edmonton & Calgary), working in close partnership with medical leadership, is accountable for the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality, accessible, sustainable, patient- and family-centered outpatient mental health services across Edmonton and Calgary. Reporting within Psychiatry and Mental Health Services – Community, the Director provides strategic and operational leadership for a broad portfolio of adult outpatient mental health programs and services. The role is responsible for ensuring services are aligned with Recovery Alberta's strategic priorities and commitment to delivering recovery-oriented, evidence-informed care. Working collaboratively with physician leaders, multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and individuals with lived and living experience, the Director supports the delivery of integrated services that improve access, enhance patient and family experiences, and promote positive health outcomes. The position plays a key role in strengthening partnerships, supporting service integration, and advancing innovative approaches to outpatient mental health care across Alberta's largest urban centers. The Director will lead operational planning, quality improvement initiatives, resource stewardship, and service integration efforts while supporting the continued evolution of outpatient mental health services. The successful candidate will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement and will contribute to the development of an integrated mental health system that meets the evolving needs of Albertans. This position may be based in either Edmonton or Calgary and requires periodic travel between both cities.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in the healthcare sector. Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience within addiction and mental health services.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated success leading complex healthcare operations within large and dynamic service delivery environments. Proven expertise in strategic planning, program development, stakeholder engagement, quality improvement, budget stewardship, and leadership in a unionized environment. Strong understanding of recovery-oriented systems of care, evidence-informed mental health practice, and contemporary models of outpatient service delivery. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians, operational leaders, clinical teams, community partners, government stakeholders, and individuals with lived and living experience. Experience leading change initiatives, improving access and patient flow, advancing service integration, and driving performance improvement across multiple programs and stakeholders. Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, multi-site healthcare services. Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to fostering high-performing teams and a culture of continuous improvement. Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Edmonton and Calgary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in a health/business-related field. Active registration with a regulated health profession in Alberta is considered an asset. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience leading large, complex addiction and mental health programs across multiple sites.
