Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) is led by the Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, CMRM, who is accountable for identification, management and control of the risks taken by CIBC Capital Markets. As a Director, Market Risk Management- Rates, you will be managing market risk for our Interest Rate Derivatives(IRD and Options), Fixed Income and XVA portfolios. You will assist the Senior Director, Market Risk in delivering timely and accurate analysis to senior management. You will work closely with partners in Risk, Capital Markets, Technology and Finance to ensure efficient communication and knowledge transfer and to assist on process enhancements. Furthermore, you will work closely with Quantitative Risk Management to understand and enhance existing models. This role is based in downtown Toronto with minimal travel requirements

How You’ll Succeed

Problem solving and Communication - You will ensure effective and timely communication of all market and credit limit breaches to all relevant stakeholders and in doing so help limit CIBC’s exposure to these risk factors. Managing multiple lines of thought from many viewpoints is critical to efficiently working through limit breaches.

People Management - You will have oversight over analysts looking over the IRD and XVA desks. Providing a strong model for performance and ensuring future development opportunities for these analysts while continually assessing capabilities will be critical.

Relationship Building - Capital Markets trades touch many different groups, and as such you will need to develop excellent relationships with these groups. From traders to sales staff to marketers in front office, to the risk adjudicators and analysts that monitor and own the limits and the technology and support teams that enable our processes, it is vital to be able to maintain clear, concise lines of communication which each, keeping in mind your role as a 2nd line of defense with its requirements for artifacts and oversight.

Domain Knowledge - You will have a solid understanding of Capital Markets activities/products with a focus on IRD and IRO and continue to grow your knowledge of Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk measurement and management. You will be familiar with pertinent regulatory requirements (existing and emerging), and maintain the rigorous standards for document and email approval storage and control support.
