About the Opportunity
A well-established electrical contractor in Calgary is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects across the commercial and residential sectors. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients from the bid stage through project award, you’ll play a key role in the company’s continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare complete, accurate, and timely cost estimates for electrical projects of varying scope and complexity, including commercial and residential (multi-family)
- Review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop detailed material and labour takeoffs
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Analyze blueprints, RFQs, RFPs, and tender documents to identify project requirements and potential risks
- Develop and maintain pricing databases for materials, labour, and equipment
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals within specified deadlines
- Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to ensure estimates align with project execution plans
- Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and scope
- Track and analyze bid results to refine future estimating accuracy
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives
- Stay current with electrical codes, industry standards, and market pricing trends
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably across a mix of commercial and residential projects
- Journeyman Electrician certification, electrical engineering technology diploma, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Alberta-specific regulations
- Familiarity with ULC / fire alarm system estimating
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, multi-project bidding environment
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid)
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and project management / bidding platforms
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to job sites as required
