Kumon Teaching Assistant

We are looking for organized and responsible staff who enjoys working with children between age 3 to 17 to join our dynamic team at Kumon West Vancouver Centre. Assistant will be working with elementary and high school students on developing their Math and Reading skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Strong Math and Reading Skills
- Available to work 2 to 4 shifts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 2:30-6:30pm
- Supervise, interact with and motivate students during class time
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm towards learning
- Grade and document each student's classwork, homework, and corrections and organize the students' work
- Ensure student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%
- Assist students in understanding any corrections they cannot easily make themselves
- Make sure students do not stay over their allotted class times
- Communicate to the instructor any concerns about the students' work and/or attitude
- Ensure proper study habits and skills are being developed and train the students in the centre routine
- Work closely with Instructor to develop and understand lesson plan and goals for each student in order to properly individualize strategies for student development
- Assess oral reading ability with reading students and provide necessary feedback
- Provide assistance/guidance to students, as needed, adhering to the Kumon Method standards and center procedures
- Provide Instructor with written or verbal feedback, as needed, based on student observations and/or student performance on worksheets
- Work with other teaching assistants to create a balanced workload to ensure grading is completed before the end of class
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.25-$24.00 per hour
