Position Summary:
The Material Handler/Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient loading, unloading, staging, and organization of customer materials throughout the facility. The incumbent will operate counterbalance forklifts and walkie equipment to support shipping and receiving operations, production requirements, and overall material flow.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Perform daily safety check on forklifts, completing the required logbooks & reporting forklift issues to the Maintenance department and management.
- Properly unload and load customer product from delivery trucks as required. Check materials and packing slip/purchase order to ensure paperwork matches what is received.
- Locate and move products to skids or crates for storage or ship - Contribute to the orderly operation of material storage and shipment.
- Examines incoming and outgoing materials for damage/defects or shortages and rectifies areas of concern; completes all required paperwork or forms required for documentation verifying against bill of lading, work orders, invoices, or other records.
- Coordinate with the Lead Hand for product delivery and removal from the lines according to production schedule and work orders.
- Check finished product packaging before loading into trucks to ensure secure and safe delivery of customer materials. Confirm paperwork matches what is shipped.
- Coordinate with the loaders for burn off dirty racking.
- Coordinate with Lead Hand to deliver clean racking to the loading line, according to work orders and production schedule.
- Utilize manufacturing execution software to review production requirements and work instructions.
- Manage/report the supply of propane tanks.
- Maintain clean and safe condition of equipment and surrounding work area.
- Tag material and ensure all material on floor is identified (customer, date received, colour, number of pieces/skids)
- Coordinate with Lead Hand to organize and stage material for upcoming production.
- Assist with inventory counts, keep updated records of activity logs
- Perform general warehouse duties as required.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High school diploma/educational equivalent
- Valid certification to operate forklifts – Mandatory
- Have experience operating a Combi Forklift.
- Minimum three years experience operating forklift and or other material handling equipment in a warehouse environment (preferred)
- Proven communication skills and ability to follow written instructions
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
- Excellent dexterity and coordination
- Knowledge of safety practices
- Abiding by company policies and procedures at all times
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
- Cooperating with other employees and management
- Able to lift 50 pounds
