Journeyperson Welder

Structural Precast Ltd. is looking for an experienced Journeyperson Welder to join our fabrication and maintenance team.
This position will focus on fabricating and welding steel components used in precast concrete production, including embeds, connection plates, forms, brackets and other custom fabrications. The successful candidate will also assist with repairs and modifications to production equipment and steel forms.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld steel embeds, plates, brackets and connection components
- Build, modify and repair steel forms used in precast concrete production
- Complete general welding and fabrication repairs throughout the plant
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, measurements and shop sketches
- Cut, fit, tack and weld steel components
- Operate MIG and flux-core welding equipment
- Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy and proper fit
- Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized
- Follow company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment
- Work with production and maintenance staff to complete repairs and fabrication projects
Qualifications
- Alberta Journeyperson Welder certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with MIG and flux-core welding
- Strong fabrication, fitting and measuring skills
- Ability to read drawings and work independently
- Experience using grinders, saws, torches and other fabrication equipment
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, safety-focused and able to work as part of a team
Additional Assets
- Experience working in precast concrete, structural steel or industrial fabrication
- Experience fabricating steel forms
- CWB welding certification
- Experience with equipment and plant maintenance
- Forklift, overhead crane or telehandler experience
