A postdoctoral fellow (PDF) position is available in the Building a Culture of Resilience (BaCoR) lab, led by Professor Haorui Wu, Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Resilience, within the School of Social Work, Faculty of Health, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Position
The PDF will support a range of interdisciplinary research projects examining the social, health, and policy dimensions of aging across Canada and internationally. These projects include, but are not limited to:
- Aging in place and continuity of care in the context of extreme events.
- Experiences of older adults, family caregivers, and migrant care workers within changing health care, social service, and immigration systems.
- Psychosocial impacts of extreme events, displacement, social isolation, and care disruption on older adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research.
- Manage and coordinating research projects.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data; communicating research outcomes to diverse audiences.
- Prepare findings for scholarly publications.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the successful candidate may co-develop research grant applications directly aligned with the lab’s research agenda, strengthen their professional network through collaborations with public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, prepare policy briefs and knowledge mobilization products, and co-supervise undergraduate and graduate students, among other responsibilities.
The PDF will be well-positioned to flourish in an innovative, interdisciplinary, and stakeholder-engaged research environment by bringing flexibility, self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, while contributing as a collaborative team member. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary network spanning institutions across Canada, the United States, Europe, and other international settings. Participation in academic career development programs offered by Dalhousie University is encouraged. The PDF will be employed by Dalhousie University (www.dal.ca) and must be physically based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
