We support seniors located in St. Albert, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Edmonton areas and currently have 16 wonderful Client Care Companions on our team. We are seeking the right person to expand our team so we can support more seniors and their needs.
Job Summary:
Family Friend Senior Companionship & Support Services is seeking a compassionate and attentive Health Care Aide/ Senior Care Companion to provide quality care and support to seniors in need.
Family Friend is offering a permanent, part-time positions based out of St. Albert, Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Stony Plain, AB. The ideal candidate will have a background in health care (Nursing or HCA), assist with daily activities, transportation and accompaniment to appointments, memory care as needed, and ensure the well-being of each assigned client.
Responsibilities:
- Provide regular companionship and emotional support to clients (playing cards/ board game etc.)
- Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, shaving and dressing
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding if necessary
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Transport and accompany clients to appointments or outings as needed
- Provide post-visit reports to the client's family
- Clock in and out of each Client Appointment using the Connecteam App
- Track Mileage during client outings
- Maintain regular communication with supervisor, and client families
- Work independently and adhere to the provided care schedule
Experience:
- Previous experience in patient care, caregiving, or related field required (Health Care Aide)
- Familiarity with nursing home, assisted living, or home care settings
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required
- Proficient with safe food handling practices for meal preparation
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate demeanor
- Experience with memory care and support is an strong asset
Required Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Must be proficient with the use of phone based apps, email use, phone calls, text messages etc.
- Must be comfortable with transporting clients to and from appointments
- Must be able to take direction and operate independently
- Must exercise flexibility with changing schedules or ad-hoc requests from client families
- **Must have a reliable vehicle for transportation of clients. All staff are required to hold 2Million Liability on their insurance**
Pre-Employment Expectations once selected:
- Current Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check)
- Clean Drivers Abstract (dated within 30 days of submission)
- First Aid Certification
- Health Care Aide Certification
