Full-time Housekeeper – Retirement Home (Temporary full time overnight housekeeper, 80 hours bi weekly, 10 pm to 6 am)
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team at Walford on the Hill Retirement Home. This role plays a vital part in creating a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, families, visitors, and staff. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness while treating residents with dignity, respect, and kindness.
Duties
- Clean and sanitize resident suites, common areas, dining rooms, washrooms, offices, and other facility spaces in accordance with established schedules and infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and disinfect floors, furniture, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
- Make beds and replenish linens, towels, toiletries, and housekeeping supplies as required.
- Collect, sort, and dispose of waste and recycling safely and in accordance with facility procedures.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Ensure housekeeping carts and storage areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Follow all infection prevention, workplace health and safety, and emergency procedures.
- Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure residents receive exceptional service and support.
- Contribute to a warm, respectful, and resident-centred environment that promotes comfort and quality of life.
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping experience in a retirement home, long-term care home, healthcare setting, hotel, or similar environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation practices, and infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards.
- Ability to operate housekeeping equipment safely and use cleaning products according to manufacturer and workplace guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a resident-first approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Physically capable of performing repetitive tasks, including standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and walking for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to providing exceptional service to residents and their families.
