To be considered need experience with CNC machines (milling preferred).
Partnership with a Large International European Based OEM.
This individual will be brought in for 9 months as a contractor and then will be made direct by the machine builder.
Looking for an experienced CNC technician who can support clients in the Toronto area and some of the surrounding areas. Experience should include some hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of various CNC machines, robots, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience with a wide range of controllers, (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and PLC programming a plus. The focus technology for this role will be 5-axis milling.
Traveling: you will travel to customer locations that are buying or have bought these OEM’s machines. At customer sites you will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls for these customers.
Generally this position will do 90% of their work in the Greater Toronto Area BUT we need a technician willing to do substantial travel to the US (and potentially Switzerland) for the first year.
- Once you complete training with the OEM, regular travel will involve on-road travel in the Toronto, Canada area. In addition to this location, you should be willing at times to travel to other cities or states to support the same technology.
- All travel costs will be reimbursed (use of company credit card) with travel in personal care reimbursed at the federal mileage rate. The service technician will also be paid their normal hourly rate when traveling to and back from a job location.
- Service technician is responsible for providing reliable transportation.
- Training: each service technician will undergo approximately 12 to 16 weeks of training with the OEM. This will be paid training time. There will also be paid shadowing sessions with more senior technicians.
- Ensuring proper documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer regarding status of machine issues, repairs, and installation
- Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry
- Able to climb ladders and to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Able to safely operate a lift truck and lifting equipment or the rigging of machine tools.
