Reporting to the Manager, A team leader will be assigned to overview a specific area or function within the operation. The incumbent will perform duties and have senior knowledge within at least one job classification. Team leader will report to Production Manager. The team leader will not be responsible for supervisory duties such as discipline but may participate. Generally, the Team Leader is able to function in all or the majority of work stations within the designated area. The team leader may conduct production operations 50% of time as back up and/ or in support of training.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide and maintain a safe work environment by:
- Emphasize quality parts, consistent with customer requirements and QS/ISO 9000 & IATF standards.
- Highly efficient utilization of production manpower and resources
- Support High level of Production Associate morale
- Provide a nurturing environment conducive to continuous improvement
- Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner to support the above, compliant with governmental regulations, including Occupational Health & Safety Act and DBG Policies.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
(list the major tasks which the incumbent is required to perform)
Safety:
1). Take preventative measures and create a safe working environment
2). Compete accident investigations and corrective actions
3). Maintain good housekeeping through 5S and plant layout principles and guidelines
4). Participate in safety audits.
Quality:
- Ensure that all prerequisite documentation is present prior to the beginning production
- Sign off daily on completion of the following:
a). set-up procedures
b). preventative maintenance checks
c). inspection plans
d). rework or sorting instructions
e). cell goal boards and
f). first and last off part procedures
g). check / sign off training reports
- Participate /complete quality investigations and corrective actions.
- Representative at APQP events or workshops.
Production:
- Plan, track and meet manpower resource requirements.
- Meet internal and customer delivery schedules and quantity targets.
- Meet machine efficiency targets.
- Maintain general and cell specific production logbooks.
- Sign off daily on job cards.
- Compete repair tags and purchase requisitions as necessary
- Assure prompt and regular attendance and work habits by Production Associates.
- Provide on the job training
Morale:
- Provide administrative support for Production Associates concerns, production support in urgent situations and feedback as required by other DBG support teams.
- Provide orientation and training of new, transferred or temp Associates.
- Support the Supervisor / manager with performance reviews, disciplinary actions, according to DBG policy
- Be fair and consistent in all dealing with Production Associates.
- Ensure Production floor participation in weekly communication meetings.
Continuous Improvement:
- Encourage, review and respond to all Production floor suggestions
- Lead Operation Team meetings as required.
- Submit and implement all cost reduction initiatives.
- Support all DTMS and VA/VE events as required.
- Coordinate and implement plant layout initiatives.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Experience from the DBG operation is preferred, grow from within
- Effective Supervision/Coaching Courses an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Act (OH&SA)
- Accident Investigation training
- Forklift Certificate
- First AID certified an asset
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3+ Years in Manufacturing environment
- Good knowledge of DBG processes/products
