Job Summary: The Energy Engineer (EE) is responsible for scoping, developing, and managing various Facility Improvement Measures (FIMs). The EE must be capable of managing and completing multiple tasks and projects as per the specified project, Customer, and Ainsworth’s requirements. Utilizing sound engineering technical skills, the EE must complete and oversee the required daily technical activities and tasks assigned to them. In addition, the EE may work with the SVP of Energy Services and Director of Sales on the development of a National Strategy that will shape the opportunities that makes Ainsworth a leading HVAC/Mechanical, Electrical, Operations & Maintenance, Building Automation Solutions provider in the Canadian Marketplace. Responsibilities:
- Assists sales process in the development of FIMs, proposals, sales documents, and projects, as per client requests which align to Ainsworth’s strategic goals. Works closely with Sales Executives, VP of Sales, VP of Marketing and Marketing Coordinators in the sales efforts. Performs site visits and sales presentations, as needed.
- Effectively performs assessments, develops sales proposals, specifications and presentations in conjunction with the sales team. Works with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Operations, and other inside and outside resources as needed to acquire new business.
- Assists in the preparation of customer proposals. Preparation of PowerPoint presentations, letters, spreadsheets, etc
- Understands the acquisition process for Ainsworth’s goods and services for all market scenarios and can assign and assist in the development of opportunities
- Coordinates with Project Coordinators and Project Managers to plans and schedules all engineering and may assist in coordinating the installation and subcontracting of assigned projects and tasks. Coordinates technical resources as required to insure timely and cost-effective completion of assigned tasks and projects on a weekly basis, or as specified.
- Maintains financial goals by maintaining and adhering to the assigned budget. Effectively communicates financial status of tasks and assignments to supervisor and project managers.
- Develops and manages tools to maintain and enhance the department or the projects technical and operational performance. Uses the analysis tools to define project problems and solutions.
- Proactively evaluates potential problems (technical, delivery, customer issues, etc.) on the job and initiates action to limit negative outcomes (outside of budget, timeline, performance, etc). Provides estimates and assists the Project Manager in negotiating additional work for customer. May review customer’s systems during installations and if needed points out other areas or system enhancements resulting in value added change orders.
- Facilitates communication within other Energy Engineers, Project Coordinators, Project Managers, subcontractors and other employees.
- Could assist in coordinating commissioning with Project Manager of systems such that it is done in a proper manner as per manufacturers and corporate standards and is reported, when required.
- Assists sales team in the region and the country with strategic development of existing and new accounts from the aspect of energy and technical input. This is with VP – National Ops Support, VP of Sales.
- Understands the customer acquisition process for Ainsworth’s sales and operations for all market scenarios and assist in the development of opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and ten years of work experience or an Associate’s degree with equivalent related work and engineering experience
- Expertise in Energy Engineering, Building Automation, HVAC and Mechanical and Electrical solutions
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts, related contractual concepts, and financial acumen
- Some exposure to construction industry, retrofits and trade labour
- Requires high related technical and financial expertise of energy engineering and HVAC and Building systems and concepts
- Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects, tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence
- Must have proficient computer skills within the following applications: Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word application and Power Point usage.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform work independently and demonstrate solid organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Knowledge of incentive programs across Canada
- Proficiency of the French Language is considered an asset, but not essential.
