Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating various types of forklifts, including clamp trucks and order pickers, to efficiently manage inventory and support warehouse operations. This role requires mechanical knowledge, attention to safety, and the ability to perform heavy lifting tasks. The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in maintaining smooth warehouse distribution processes and ensuring accurate order picking and inventory management using our warehouse management system.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts, including clamp trucks and order pickers, to move materials within the warehouse
- Load and unload goods from trucks, pallets, or storage areas with precision and care
- Conduct routine inspections of forklift equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance issues
- Assist with order picking activities by retrieving items accurately according to order specifications
- Use basic math skills to verify quantities, weights, and measurements during handling processes
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Follow warehouse safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents or injuries
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and documentation
- Perform heavy lifting as required, often moving items weighing up to 50 pounds or more
Experience
- Prior experience operating forklifts, including clamp trucks and order pickers, is highly preferred
- Knowledge of warehouse distribution processes and inventory management systems is advantageous
- Mechanical aptitude or knowledge of forklift maintenance is a plus
- Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and procedures
- Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying inventory quantities
- Experience with order picking tasks in a fast-paced warehouse environment is desirable
