Connex Personnel is currently recruiting an Electrical Engineer within the oil and gas industry.
Key Accountabilities
- Active participation in companies safety programs including Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA), Critical Control Assurance (CCA), and contractor safety meetings.
- Application of company, industrial and job scope requirements in a practical manner to construction activities.
- Timely response to field inquiries and technical issues with practical solutions (answering RFI/FCN’s). This includes field visits for problem analysis, discussion with the contractor/company construction, coordination with vendors and/or the Engineer of Record and may require engineering calculations.
- Review and approval of shop drawing submittals.
- Assisting construction Contractors with interpretation of drawings and specifications.
- Supporting the overall projects team in achieving the key project milestones.
- Supporting the construction team in the development of Work Packages, scope definition and provision of technical data for field issued contracts.
- Review of engineering work packages and construction work packages for errors or omissions and translation to placeholders in the turnover management system.
- Quality Plan, Inspection Test Plan (ITP), and other QA document review in a timely manner.
- Progressive review of QA exhibits as produced by the contractor’s personnel. This includes field witnessing of certain activities as defined in the ITP specific to the discipline.
- Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) of contractors as required.
- Progressive audits and quality surveillance of contractors to verify adherence to project, industry and job specific requirements.
- Review construction quality procedures
- Conduct progressive inspections of the work scope to identify deficiencies to the contractor.
- Lead the Installation Work Package (IWP), construction and final walkdowns to identify and record any deficiencies.
- Closure of deficiencies through providing technical support and supplemental field verification.
- Review of redline documentation to verify completeness against field construction and the project change records.
- Review of the final project turnover packages to verify correctness and completeness of documents.
- Participation in the mechanical completion and transfer of care, custody, and control processes.
- Review and closeout of Field Change Notice (FCN), Design Change Notice (DCN), and Non-Conformance Report (NCR).
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a P.Eng. registered in Alberta and able to authenticate professional work products.
- Electrical: Familiar with CEC, NFPA
- Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
Key Interfaces for Position
- Contractor field coordinators, foreman/superintendents, and QA personnel for coordinating inspections and resolving construction issues/concerns.
- Company and Contractor Construction Management teams to provide technical support and resolve constructability concerns.
- Company and Project Management teams to provide technical support.
- Project commissioning and owner’s representatives for inspections and discussion of technical issues which require input of the end user.
- Engineer of Record to coordinate practical solutions to design concerns.
Working Conditions
- Site-based role, north of Fort McMurray
- 8x6 day shift rotation. Return flights from Calgary or Edmonton hub and camp accommodation provided.
