ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
The John Noble Home is the municipal long term care home with shared ownership by the Corporation of the City of Brantford and the Corporation of the County of Brant. The John Noble Home consists of 156 long term care beds with planned expansion, a community-based day program and a senior’s apartment building.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Care is responsible for the planning, organizing, and evaluating all nursing care services. This position functions as a member of the Administrative Team and assists in leading the nursing team. Reporting to the Director of Care, the Manager will oversee the nursing care services, ensuring quality care to all residents.
The successful candidate will provide strong leadership in a unionized environment, ensure high-quality, resident-centered services, and support the Home’s overall goals in quality improvement, safety, and resident satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered Nursing Diploma or equivalent, in good standing with the College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an RN in a supervisory capacity in a healthcare setting
- Minimum of 3 years relevant management experience, with preference given to experience in long-term care
- Experience with RAI assessments, RAI scheduling, outputs, and interpretation of data
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Health & Long-term Care Act, 2007, the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, and other relevant legislation
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, communication, report writing, and human relations skills
- Ability to travel in a timely manner to other work locations as needed
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the ongoing development of the teams and for providing supervision, leadership, coaching and direction to the nursing and personal care staff of the home in the performance of their duties.
- Act as a role model and contribute to the development of a caring and competent team who is responsible and accountable for direct resident care activities.
- Assists and supports the planning, development and implementation of quality resident care programs consistent with all applicable legislation including Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care requirements, the Quality Inspection Process, RAI-MDS 2.0 and Services for Senior’s mission, vision and philosophy of care.
- Supports the management of all aspects of resident care in an efficient and effective manner.
- Supports the development of a resident centered environment with a strong focus on client satisfaction, and quality of life.
- Analyses and evaluates resident care and services.
- Continuously develops implements and evaluates quality improvement/best practice initiatives and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities, including ongoing participation in the Services for Senior’s accreditation process.
- Ensures the provision of training programs, regular performance evaluations as well as adequate scheduling, attendance management and disciplinary actions as required.
- Ensures strong fiscal accountability.
- Works with other staff to ensure consistency and service excellence within the home.
- Participates in Health and Safety activities and as a member of the Home’s Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Participates in community educational health programs as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SALARY RANGE: Starting rate of $58.29 per hour (based on a 37 ½ hour work week)
