Job Title: Loader OperatorJob Description
This role involves operating a diesel sit-down forklift and loader in an outdoor yard at a manufacturing facility to control the flow of inventory. You will work as part of a small team to manage shipping and receiving activities, move materials safely and efficiently, and support general yard and warehouse operations, including kitting, inventory control, picking, and packing.
Responsibilities-
Operate an outdoor diesel sit-down forklift and cat loader to move materials safely within the yard and manufacturing facility.

Control the flow of inventory in an outdoor yard, ensuring materials are stored, staged, and moved accurately and efficiently.

Perform shipping and receiving duties, including loading and unloading flatbed trailers and verifying incoming and outgoing shipments.

Communicate clearly and professionally with delivery drivers to coordinate loading, unloading, and yard movements.

Support warehousing operations, including kitting, inventory control, picking, and packing of materials and components.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and warehouse area through general housekeeping tasks.

Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines to protect yourself, your team, and company property.

Adapt to additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support production and yard operations.
Essential Skills-
Strong experience operating a sit-down diesel forklift in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Proven experience in shipping and receiving, including loading and unloading flatbed trailers.

Hands-on material handling experience in a manufacturing or warehousing setting.

Ability to operate an outdoor forklift and diesel cat loader or willingness to apply strong sit-down forklift skills to this equipment.

Basic knowledge of warehousing processes such as kitting, inventory control, picking, and packing.

Forklift certification.

Ability to communicate effectively with delivery drivers and team members.

Commitment to working safely in an outdoor yard and shop environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Overhead crane experience.

Knowledge of oilfield equipment, particularly drilling rigs.

Experience working in a manufacturing facility or industrial shop environment.

Comfort working in a fast-paced yard and warehouse operation with changing priorities.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing shop and yard environment in southeast Calgary. The facility currently employs approximately 50 trades workers and has plans for significant expansion in 2026, creating a busy and growing operation. You will work primarily in an outdoor yard operating diesel sit-down forklifts and a cat loader, as well as inside the shop and warehouse for shipping, receiving, and material handling activities. The standard shift is a day schedule, Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with eligibility for overtime after 8 hours in any day regardless of hours worked during the week. The environment combines yard work, warehousing, and manufacturing activities, requiring appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial shop and outdoor conditions.
