Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Financial Reporting Coordinator is responsible for the creation and maintenance of financial and statistical reports including income statements, balance sheets, and other ad hoc reports used by both internal and external stakeholders as well as importing and processing of data from external sources into the general ledger including the manipulation of source data where necessary. The incumbent also prepares and posts journal entries, administers, maintains, and provides front-line support/training for financial application software. The incumbent also ensures MIS guidelines are followed for the creation of new cost centres and general ledger accounts and participates in implementing modifications as required by changing reporting standards. Further responsibilities include account reconciliations and the preparation of quarter-end and year-end reporting requirements and the preparation of year-end audit files.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the last 5 years in a computerized accounting environment, preferably within a large, complex organization (hospital or equivalent).
- Completion of high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Must have or be in the process of achieving a CPA designation.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Special Training:
- Proficiency in the use of computer-based financial information systems (i.e. SAP) is an asset, preferably within a large complex organization.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and methodologies is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) is required.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports.
- Knowledge of Standards for Management Information Systems (MIS) in Canadian Health Service Organizations is an asset.
- Must have excellent computer skills and technical aptitude and be comfortable with complex accounting transactions and systems including data manipulation and interchange.
- Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written) in the English language.
- Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability and aptitude for recognizing, investigating, and analyzing complex problems and recommending solutions.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and complete work in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner in order to meet changing deadlines.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff at all levels.
