Counter Assistant
As a counter service assistant with the Food Service department, the incumbent offers friendly, efficient service while preparing food as ordered by the customer. They are required to ensure accuracy in the preparation of the requested menu items while following required food safety processes.
Production Assistant
As a food production assistant with the Food Service department, the incumbent prepares food items for service such as sandwich table items, grab n go products, and recipe ingredients for main course production. Offers friendly, efficient service while preparing food as ordered by the customer. They are required to ensure accuracy in the preparation of the requested menu items while following required food safety processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Washes, cuts, and properly stores food items as per directions and/or par stocks while ensuring a clean and sanitized work area;
- Ensures proper labels are utilized for items;
- Stocks product, sweeps area, empties garbage, and washes location dishes when required;
Other Duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Secondary School (Grade 10);
- Experience in a food service-related industry and knowledge of food preparation an asset;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task;
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure;
- Ability of providing speedy, efficient, courteous and tactful service;
- Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stock a variety of merchandise;
- Ability to work flexible hours if required.

- This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College's Ottawa Campus.
Anticipated Schedules Include:
- Positions commencing as of August 26, 2024. Ongoing hiring will occur until all positions are filled.
Regular Part-time positions on average are up to five (5) hours per shift.
Shifts vary by location accommodating mornings, afternoon and evening availabilities.
Weekday and Weekend shifts are available.
Positions are scheduled up to 24 hours per week.
