F.R.O.M. Toronto Pain Relief Clinic is a multidisciplinary rehabilitation and pain-management clinic serving patients in Downtown Toronto and North York. Our collaborative team supports patients experiencing chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological conditions, mobility limitations, and post-surgical rehabilitation needs.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Physiatrist or Ontario-licensed Medical Doctor with appropriate training and experience in musculoskeletal pain management and injection procedures. The physician will assess patients, establish diagnoses and treatment plans, and perform medically indicated injections within their authorized scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments for patients experiencing acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain, joint pain, soft-tissue injuries, neurological symptoms, or functional limitations.
- Review medical histories, medications, laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, consultation reports, and previous treatment records.
- Perform focused physical and neurological examinations.
- Develop evidence-informed, patient-centred treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Determine whether injection treatment is medically appropriate and discuss available alternatives with the patient.
- Perform appropriate injection procedures based on the physician’s training, competence, and authorized scope of practice.
- Provide ultrasound-guided injections where clinically indicated and where the physician has the required training and experience.
- Procedures may include trigger-point, joint, periarticular, bursal, tendon-sheath, or selected peripheral nerve injections, depending on the physician’s qualifications and clinical judgment.
- Select medications, dosages, injection sites, and procedural techniques appropriate to each patient’s condition.
- Obtain and document informed consent, including the expected benefits, limitations, alternatives, and potential risks of each procedure.
- Screen for allergies, anticoagulant use, infection, pregnancy, medication interactions, and other contraindications before treatment.
- Follow aseptic technique, infection-control requirements, medication-handling procedures, and sharps-safety protocols.
- Monitor patients during and following procedures and identify and manage adverse reactions or complications.
- Provide patients with clear post-procedure instructions, warning signs, and follow-up recommendations.
- Prescribe and manage medications when clinically appropriate.
- Order or recommend diagnostic investigations, including X-rays, ultrasound, MRI, CT, laboratory testing, EMG/nerve-conduction studies, and specialist consultations when indicated.
- Refer patients to other physicians, specialists, or hospital services when further investigation or treatment is required.
- Collaborate with physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, occupational therapists, mental-health practitioners, and other members of the rehabilitation team.
- Document assessments, diagnoses, procedures, medications, consent, lot numbers where applicable, outcomes, and follow-up plans accurately and promptly.
- Complete required referral correspondence, consultation reports, and OHIP documentation.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with clinic policies, CPSO requirements, privacy legislation, and applicable provincial standards.
- Participate in clinical quality improvement, emergency preparedness, and safe medication-management processes.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Current certificate of registration permitting medical practice in Ontario and good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Authorized to practise independently within the relevant clinical scope.
- Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is strongly preferred.
- Physicians with relevant training in sport and exercise medicine, family medicine, chronic pain, or musculoskeletal medicine may also be considered.
- Demonstrated training and competence in musculoskeletal injection procedures.
- Training and experience in ultrasound-guided injections are strongly preferred.
- Current professional liability protection through the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent coverage acceptable in Ontario.
- Current Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, rehabilitation medicine, pharmacological management, and safe injection practices.
- Familiarity with OHIP billing, electronic medical records, and interdisciplinary clinic workflows is an asset.
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation, communication, and patient-education skills.
- Commitment to evidence-informed, ethical, and patient-centred care.
Expected hours: 10.0 – 30.0 per week
