ABOUT VOGT INDUSTRIES

THE OPPORTUNITY
This position is funded through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) Youth Employment Program and provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain practical experience in product data management, business process improvement, product lifecycle management, and digital transformation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Information Management
- Review, audit, and maintain product information across internal systems and databases.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of product specification sheets, technical manuals, installation guides, certifications, and supporting documentation.
- Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), product attributes, and technical specifications.
- Identify and correct inconsistencies, missing information, and outdated product records.
- Develop standardized product information structures and documentation practices.
Product Data Governance & Digital Asset Management
- Organize and maintain product-related digital assets, including technical specifications, manuals, CAD files, 2D drawings, 3D models, certifications, and product imagery.
- Establish structured filing systems separating public-facing files from confidential internal engineering and manufacturing documentation.
- Improve file organization, naming conventions, version control, and document accessibility.
Systems Integration & Process Improvement
- Research opportunities to improve the flow of product information between Vogt's business systems and manufacturing systems.
- Analyze current product data workflows and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Support development of strategies for maintaining synchronized and accurate product information across multiple platforms.
Product Lifecycle & Transition Management
- Support the transition of existing product lines to new valve platforms and updated product standards.
- Assist with onboarding and launch of new product collections.
- Coordinate product data updates associated with product introductions, revisions, and discontinuations.
Project Management & Operational Excellence
- Assist in evaluating and improving company project management systems and workflows.
- Support integration of meeting schedules, recordings, project milestones, and timelines into project tracking platforms.
- Help establish structured processes for tracking project activities, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Contribute to initiatives that improve communication, coordination, and efficiency across departments.
Technical Documentation & Design Support
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Support revisions to product drawings and technical specifications.
- Assist in creation and modification of 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent graduate in Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Business Technology, Information Systems, Operations Management, or related discipline.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and business software systems.
- CAD experience (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) is an asset.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
NRC-IRAP ELIGIBILITY
- 15–30 years old at start of employment.
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Recent post-secondary graduate.
- First-time participant in a YESS-funded work experience program.
Pay: $29.00-$31.50 per hour
