We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic STEM Tutors & Course Content Assistants who are currently university students and passionate about helping students succeed in mathematics and science.
In this role, you will support students in your area(s) of expertise, such as mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and related STEM subjects. You will provide personalized tutoring sessions and assist with developing high-quality educational materials for various STEM courses.
This paid, part-time internship provides an opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience, strengthen communication skills, develop educational content, and make a meaningful impact on students’ academic success.
This position is ideal for students studying STEM fields who enjoy explaining concepts, solving problems, and helping others learn.
This internship opportunity is funded through VFC. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for the program, including being currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution and meeting Canadian internship eligibility requirements.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in your area(s) of expertise
- Support students with STEM subjects including mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, and related courses
- Explain complex concepts clearly using examples, visual aids, and problem-solving strategies
- Assist students with homework, assignments, exam preparation, and developing strong study skills
- Create and improve educational materials, lesson plans, practice questions, and learning resources
- Review course content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with student learning goals
- Use online teaching platforms and educational technology to deliver effective learning experiences
- Track student progress and provide feedback to improve student outcomes
- Collaborate with the education team to improve courses and learning resources
Qualifications
- Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Must meet eligibility requirements for the VFC internship program
- Strong academic background in one or more STEM fields, including:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Related fields
- Strong understanding of your subject area(s) and ability to explain concepts clearly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or educational content creation experience is an asset
- Comfortable using online learning platforms and educational technology
- Passionate about education and helping students succeed
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
