Medical Laboratory Assistant II

Operating 24/7, the Specimen Processing department plays a key role in the delivery of customer focused laboratory services and is vital to the operation of the laboratory. As a team member in this fast-paced environment, you will utilize skills in data entry, specimen processing, communication and customer service.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

Receiving, sorting and delivering specimens
Data entry and labeling patient specimens
Specimen Processing
Specimen referral to outside agencies
Phoning patient results as required
Acting as a resource for variety of customer questions
Distribution of patient reports
Distribution of interoffice mail

Required Skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Keyboarding skills and basic computer knowledge
Must be thorough, accurate and detail oriented

Required Experience
Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications

Grade 12 High School Diploma
Successful completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program is required
