The opportunity
Our Internal Audit team is evolving to meet the needs of our business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta.
This position reports to the Manager, Internal Audit and is responsible for planning and conducting financial and/or operational audits of TC Energy and subsidiary company operations; conducting independent, objective reviews of company activities; and providing analysis and client-focused value-added recommendations.
This position will be required to lead and perform a range of audits across the company, working under the direction of any of the Internal Audit Managers based on their specific Annual Audit Plan assignments.

What you’ll do
Plan audits, including completion of detailed risk assessments of business areas under review, determination of audit scope and objectives, and development of the audit programs
Lead / participate in the execution of audits and / or projects including discussions with client, performance of substantive testing, review of controls and risk mitigation practices, and completion of file documentation in keeping with IIA and department standards
Identify and follow-up on complex and sensitive issues within business areas, and provide value added business advice, considering alternatives and making recommended solutions
Prepare formal audit reports that contain observations and recommendations, and communicate results to business area management
Follow-up on audit recommendations to assess appropriateness of risk mitigation measures taken
Prioritize activities to ensure achievement of engagement objectives
Conduct research on detailed technical or best-practice standards and provide recommendations for business area consideration
Act as audit lead, team member or individual contributor, depending on the assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
University Degree or College Diploma in business or related field (required)
Possession of a professional designation or equivalent experience
A minimum of 6 or more years business experience, with solid experience in auditing or accounting roles, or 6 or more years of operational experience
Demonstrated ability to function and work effectively in a team environment with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with audit clients
Proven oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
Proven reputation for integrity and unquestioned business ethics
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple and competing priorities under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of data analysis techniques, IIA Standards and risk-based audit methodologies
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience using AuditBoard OpsAudit and SAP
Proven ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
Ability to participate in out-of-town assignments (up to 30%), including audits in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Experience auditing supply chain, mega / major construction projects and operations would be considered an asset

- Travel is a requirement to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home. Applicants must be able to provide applicable travel documentation to travel across borders.
