The Indigenous Research & Science Connections Manager provides strategic and integrated leadership to advance Indigenous research partnerships, community-driven scholarship, and Indigenous-informed teaching and learning across Western University, with a focus on activities within the Faculty of Science, and complementing the goals of the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and Western’s Indigenous Research office. The role is accountable for connecting Science capacities and research initiatives with the needs and priorities of Indigenous communities locally, nationally, and internationally. Working in close partnership with Indigenous communities and Western University leadership, the Manager will take a leading role in existing initiatives such as the Indigenous Research Circle, regional Land Guardians network-building and training, the Bkejwanong greenhouse project, and related programs, ensuring that community-identified priorities inform research, training, and capacity-building efforts. The role will serve as a senior advisor to Faculty and University leadership, representing Indigenous perspectives and facilitating structural and systemic change to enhance Indigenous inclusion, belonging, and research impact. The Manager will develop and steward strategic research and teaching partnerships, either identify or secure partnership funding opportunities, and lead the creation of culturally grounded training, research programs, and land-based learning initiatives that advance the Faculty’s and University’s commitments to reconciliation and Indigenous engagement.
