Position Summary: The Administrative Assistant (Safe Centre of Peel) is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Centre. This role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth administrative functioning, effective communication between partner agencies, and consistent support for both staff and visitors. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities Provide administrative assistance to the Manager and Centre teams.
- Maintain and update recordkeeping systems and documentation.
- Reception coverage such as Answer phone calls, take and deliver messages, and respond to inquiries.
- Schedule meetings and appointments, including sending calendar invites.
- Greet and assist clients, visitors, and partners; connect them with the appropriate staff.
- Assist with planning and daily operational administration.
- Assist with sorting and organizing inventory of donations.
- Support with child minding as needed.
Outreach Support
- Support with outreach activities for the Centre.
- Assist in the creation of flyers and posters for the Centre.
Other
- Participate in agency fundraising activities as deemed appropriate and necessary by Senior Management.
- Attend required agency activities and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Strong organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication - comfortable interacting with diverse individuals including clients, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Working Conditions
- Respond to enquiries from staff (in person, on phone or via e-mail).
- Work with confidential data.
- Multiple priorities and interactions with many stakeholders.
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment.
Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Program Requirements)
Applicants must:
- Be between 15–30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

This position is based in Brampton and offers 35 hours per week at a rate of $18.50 per hour, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, 2000 and other applicable Ontario legislation.
