This full-time permanent position is based at Elmwood Home Hardware at 257 Elmwood Drive, Moncton, NB.
Job Description:
We are looking for a customer-focused and hands-on Hardware Associate to join our team. In this role, you will support daily store operations by assisting customers with their projects, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring an efficient and welcoming shopping environment.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has an interest in hardware and home improvement, and thrives in a fast-paced retail setting.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales
· Greet customers promptly and ensure a positive shopping experience
· Assist customers in locating products in-store and online
· Ask open-ended questions to understand customer needs and recommend solutions
· Provide product knowledge and project advice as needed
· Assist customers with carrying out large or heavy items
Store Presentation & Maintenance
· Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked shelves and displays
· Set up and take down promotional displays and signage
· Ensure the store, including checkout and storage areas, remains tidy
· Support seasonal merchandising and in-store events
Inventory & Merchandising
· Receive and verify incoming merchandise, noting shortages or damages
· Assist with ordering, restocking, and merchandising products
· Process special orders and follow up with customers
· Participate in cycle counts and annual inventory
· Maintain accurate pricing and product information
General Duties
· Operate point-of-sale system and handle transactions accurately
· Follow store procedures for returns, refunds, and loss prevention
· Assist with unloading trucks and stocking merchandise
· Communicate effectively with team members and management
· Follow all health & safety policies and report hazards
· Support additional tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
· High School graduation or equivalent
· Retail or hardware experience considered an asset
· Ability to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings, weekends)
· Strong customer service and communication skills
· Team-oriented with a positive attitude
· Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods
· Basic math and problem-solving skills
· Willingness to learn and develop product knowledge
· Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
Working relationships:
· Reports directly to the Store Manager
