Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have:
- CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation
- Minimum 6 years of direct working experience in Canadian customs brokerage, customs compliance, senior rating/classification, or customs analyst roles
- Advanced knowledge of Customs Tariff, CBSA regulations, customs classification practices, and brokerage documentation standards
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Proficiency with customs brokerage software and compliance reporting systems
Preferred Qualifications
Considered an asset:
- Supervisory, mentoring, or leadership experience
- Audit preparation or compliance review experience
About the Opportunity
Border Brokers is seeking an experienced Customs Compliance Specialist for a planned succession role within our Compliance Department.
This role will work directly alongside our current Director of Compliance and is intended to transition into that future leadership position upon retirement.
We are specifically seeking an experienced customs brokerage professional with strong Canadian customs knowledge and leadership capability.
Responsibilities
- Review and validate tariff classifications, valuation declarations, origin documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Act as an internal subject matter expert on Customs Tariff classification
- Supervise and support Compliance administrative staff
- Provide compliance guidance to internal departments and brokerage teams
- Communicate directly with clients regarding CBSA requirements and customs compliance matters
- Assist with internal audits, process documentation, and compliance training initiatives
- Support quality assurance and continuous improvement across brokerage operations
- Participate in the succession planning and leadership transition activities
