About the Position
St. George Academy (SGA) is seeking a professional, organized, and motivated Taiwanese Student Counsellor / Marketer & Administrative Assistant to join our High School campus in North York.
This is a multi-functional position combining student counselling, international student recruitment and marketing, student services, and school administration.
The successful candidate will primarily support Taiwanese and Mandarin-speaking students, while also assisting students of other nationalities as required. The candidate will work closely with the SGA administration team and assist with the day-to-day operation of the High School campus.
The ideal candidate is fluent in Mandarin and English, has cwh, possesses strong administrative and communication skills, and is comfortable working directly with high school students, parents, education agencies, teachers, and school staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Counselling & Student Services
- Provide guidance and support to current and prospective students, particularly Taiwanese and Mandarin-speaking students.
- Assist students and parents with inquiries regarding programs, enrollment, school procedures, schedules, and general student matters.
- Conduct information sessions and orientations for new students.
- Support international students in adjusting to the school environment and studying in Canada.
- Assist in resolving student concerns, complaints, communication issues, and other school-related matters.
- Maintain regular communication with students and, when appropriate, their parents or education agencies.
- Assist with student activities, orientation days, school events, and student engagement initiatives.
- Monitor student concerns and communicate relevant matters to school administration.
- Assist students requiring additional administrative or settlement support.
- Assist with urgent student matters when required.
School Administration
- Assist the administration team with the day-to-day operations of the High School campus.
- Assist with student registration, enrollment documentation, and maintenance of student records.
- Create and maintain accurate and complete student files.
- Update student information in the school's administrative records and systems.
- Assist with attendance records and follow up on attendance-related matters when assigned.
- Prepare school letters, forms, student documents, and general correspondence as required.
- Communicate student changes, withdrawals, cancellations, and other important information to appropriate staff members.
- Assist with communication between students, teachers, administration, parents, and education agencies.
- Respond to student and general inquiries by email, telephone, and in person.
- Assist with front-office and reception responsibilities when required.
- Assist with organizing orientations, student activities, meetings, and school events.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling student and school information.
- Attend regular staff meetings.
- Provide general administrative support to management and other departments as required.
- Perform other administrative and student-service duties as assigned.
International Marketing & Student Recruitment
- Develop and maintain the Taiwanese student recruitment market and other assigned Mandarin-speaking markets.
- Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for student recruitment and business development.
- Communicate regularly with local and overseas education agencies.
- Identify and develop relationships with new education agencies and recruitment partners.
- Provide agencies with current information regarding SGA programs, admissions, promotions, and school updates.
- Counsel prospective international students and assist them throughout the enrollment process.
- Follow up with prospective students, parents, and agency inquiries.
- Promote SGA through social media, online platforms, education agencies, networking, and community connections.
- Assist with developing market-specific promotions and recruitment campaigns.
- Assist with creating and distributing promotional and marketing materials.
- Participate in education fairs, recruitment events, agency meetings, and other promotional activities when required.
- Coordinate special requirements for visiting agencies, agents, students, and parents.
- Maintain and update agency contact information and related records.
- Provide management with regular updates regarding the Taiwanese market, student inquiries, agency activities, recruitment results, and market trends.
- Participate in recruitment-related business travel when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
The successful candidate must:
- Be fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken.
- Have a strong understanding of Taiwanese culture and the Taiwanese student market.
- Have completed post-secondary education at the college or university level.
- Hold a college diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor's degree, or higher post-secondary qualification. Education in Business, Marketing, Administration, Education, Communications, International Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Canadian or international post-secondary credentials are acceptable.
- Be comfortable working directly with high school students, parents, teachers, and education agencies.
- Have previous experience in student services, administration, international education, student counselling, marketing, recruitment, or a related field.
- Have strong computer skills and be comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, online communication platforms, social media, and administrative systems.
- Currently reside in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and be available to work on-site at the SGA High School campus.
Important: Post-secondary education is a mandatory requirement for this position. Applicants whose highest level of education is a high school diploma will not be considered.
Previous experience working in a private high school, international school, language school, college, education agency, or other educational institution is considered a strong asset.
