About Thrive Youth:
Thrive Youth Development Canada delivers arts-based leadership programs to children and youth in underserved communities facing barriers to success. We’re dedicated to nurturing creativity, resilience, and self-confidence through programs for participants aged 9 to 18. Our unique programs pair a Thrive facilitator with a professional artist from our artist educator network to deliver learning objectives that support the development of critical skills.
The Role:
We are seeking an Occasional Program Facilitator in Toronto to deliver programming on a casual, as-needed basis. This is a sporadic role with no guaranteed hours and involves filling in for regular facilitators when they are unavailable. Shifts will be offered as needed, and availability will vary. This position offers flexibility but requires adaptability due to the unpredictable nature of the schedule.
The Occasional Program Facilitator will initially receive training by shadowing a Thrive Facilitator, learning the program curriculums, and becoming familiar with lesson plans. Reporting to the Regional Manager of GTA Programs, the primary responsibility will be delivering programs as a substitute for Thrive’s staff facilitators. This is a truly ad-hoc position, and successful candidates should be comfortable with the lack of scheduling consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Delivery:
- Facilitation of on-site and online programming in adherence to all organizational and program-related policies and procedures. This includes travelling to/from a variety of program locations within the region (Toronto/North York/Etobicoke/Scarborough) such as schools, arts & cultural venues, studios, community spaces, etc. Programs are delivered to children and youth ages 9 to 18 in a variety of settings, including in schools and at a variety of arts & cultural venues
- Support delivery of program logistics as instructed by Regional Manager of GTA Programs, including travel partnering, supply management, and other duties as assigned
- Support execution of all critical daily program tasks (attendance, safe arrival, head counts, etc.)
- Support the execution of lesson plans in accordance to Thrive Youth curriculum as instructed by the Regional Manager of GTA Programs
- Support the development of lesson plans that align with Thrive Youth curriculum as instructed by the Regional Manager of GTA Programs
- Develop young leaders while having fun
Program Stewardship & Reporting:
- Monitor student engagement & work directly with students to support programming objectives and positive development outcomes
- Taking photos, recording moments of student development, gathering quotes/feedback from students, and other reporting tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ability to relate to & empathize with children who are challenged by difficult life circumstances and/or who face barriers to accessing opportunities beyond the classroom
- An energetic and enthusiastic approach to work and life
- Impeccable organizational skills and detail oriented
- Minimum 2 years experience working in child & youth programming, teaching, or an aligned field
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Industrious
- A team player
- A creative problem solver
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, Email, etc.
- Belief in the Thrive Youth goals and means of achieving the goals
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
- Current First Aid & CPR-C Training an asset
- Valid Driver’s Licence an asset
- Able to work in a fast-paced and flexible work environment
This is a casual position offering shifts as available, with an initial three-month contract. There is the possibility of contract extension following the initial term.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
