Principal, Financial Audit and Related Services
Salary Range: $120,000.08 - $145,000.16 per annum

The Office of the Auditor of British Columbia (OAG) is seeking a talented professional to help lead our Financial Audit and Related Services (FARS) team.
The FARS team implements quality assurance and completion of specific financial audit reports, while maintaining relevance and compliance with the Auditor General Act and the Auditor General's business objectives. The team implements the Office's policies, plans and strategies as well as committing to actioning and implementing the Office's business goals and strategic corporate agenda.
As one of three Principals in FARS, you will be responsible for managing resources within a budget allocation and meeting program deliverables within this allocation and distinct timeframes. In addition to managing the preparation of audit opinions and reports on behalf of the Auditor General, the role is responsible for maintaining a collaborative relationship between the Office and its client - the Legislative Assembly of BC. This role will require an individual that is a key expert and contributor, who can provide advice to and support to the Auditor General.
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must have:
Education & Experience
Canadian accounting designation (CPA preferred) or equivalent; plus, a minimum of 12 years’ diverse related experience leading financial statement audits.
12 years of progressive related experience including a combination of the following:
Demonstrated experience in strategically leading large, complex financial statement audit projects at a senior level; and
Experience in leading, planning, managing, conducting, and reporting financial statement audits in a public sector setting, with a well-developed understanding of public administration and how governments work.
Progressive project management experience, including project life cycle organization, planning, budgeting, execution, monitoring and controlling, communications management, risk management and project closing.
Experience leading a team of professionals, including providing direction, supervision, coaching, mentoring and motivating staff.
Experience in applying professional standards to guide the quality of audits.
Experience establishing collaborative relationships with senior leaders and creating and delivering executive-level presentations and written reports for the purpose of decision making.
Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards.
