Job Introduction
This position is for Autosystems Belleville.
Major Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing leadership; instilling a sense of urgency; and driving problems towards resolution to ensure that quality systems, procedures and instructions meet Customer requirements, Autosystems objectives, and regulatory compliance in the following areas:
  • Direct and mentor problem solving teams for all Customer and internal issues, including tracking, reporting, problem solving issues; retain and maintain records as required
  • Primary contact on all Customer quality concerns; ensuring all quality concerns are communicated accordingly.
  • Provide training support to all departments for quality system development, corrective and preventative action and problem solving.
  • Expedite activity for 3rd party containment and drive permanent corrective actions timely
  • Assist in Supplier selection and certification as required.
  • Assist in the statistical process control improvements with manufacturing and supplier base
  • Complete all APQP-related activities, ECR processes, PDP (*D), and all other Quality Management System requirements as needed.
  • Ensure that conflict and productivity issues are managed directly, constructively, and professionally in all circumstances.
  • Drive year over year continuous quality improvement.
  • Manage Advanced Quality Engineeing on new launch activity and ensure resources are available and meeting customer expectations throughout launch of the new product
  • Oversee, monitor and drive effectiveness of LPA process
  • Manage plant representation and resource allotment
  • Oversee root cause analysis and corrective action for warranty process
  • Participate and designate resources to support Cost of Quality (CoQ) scrap and RPN reduction initiatives
  • Monitor and manage initiatives to maintain and improve customer scorecards
  • Identify opportunities, forecast resources to achieve quality improvement targets.
  • Develop the annual Quality plan.
  • Ensure enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements and compliance
  • Adhere to all Autosystems and departmental procedures as required.
  • Attend training in order to develop and /or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills and/or certification.
  • Meet budget requirements
  • Ensure, with the cooperation of other departments at Autosystems and Corporate, that the plant achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction and the lowest for PPM
  • Independently designs and implements procedures and quality systems particular to manufactured products/processes that meet registration as well as Customer and Autosystems requirements.
  • Identify possible improvements related to quality, design, or production processes.
  • The ability to build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with customers at all levels.
  • Report Monthly Quality results to Management Team and Team meetings.
  • Monitor all customer related costs. (i.e. customer complaints, sorting, inspections etc.)
  • Travel to customer sites as required. (i.e. presentations, corrective actions reports etc)
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that requirements of the CCC documentation are effectively established
Knowledge and Education
  • Post-Secondary Diploma /Degree in an technical field or equivalent field required
  • ASQC Certified Quality Engineer/Certified Auditor, Certified Quality Manager an asset
  • Lean Manufacturing experience required
Work Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in management/ supervisory position required
Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent working knowledge of Quality Systems (IATF, TS, QS, MAFACT, GQS)
  • Strong leadership, project management, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Strong understanding of finance
  • Ability to understand timelines and current program status
  • Ability to use statistical techniques/applications to solve quality issues
  • Ability to strategize and implement solutions
  • Ability to travel to any Customer and/or Supplier on short notice
  • Core Tool Knowledge (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA)
  • Problem solving Knowledge. (Red X, 8D, 5Phase, 7Step, Root Cause Analysis etc.)
  • Ability to effectively manage employees, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to present quality system findings and recommendations for improvement to all levels of the company through verbal and written presentations.
Work Environment
  • Normal amount of sitting and standing;
  • Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor;
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation;
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach.
  • Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature.
  • Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically;
  • Travel is required in this role as required to meet business needs
