Position Summary:
The Operations Group works as a team to plan and efficiently execute processes that will provide high-quality services to clients. This position requires Union membership. As a member of the plant operations team, the Process Operator I is responsible for following all safety and quality rules and procedures, process setups, process execution, including operation of equipment, process wrap-up, housekeeping, and other tasks as defined by POS procedures and assigned by the supervisor.
Responsibilities & Expectations:

Ensure assigned process activities are carried out safely and effectively, within the guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and within GMP and HACCP standards.

Ensure policies, safety standards, regulations, and protocol are followed and adhered to.

Maintain a knowledge and awareness of plant safety and fire prevention as part of each process execution, which may vary from process to process.

Run simple processes and follow process directives, under the general supervision of the senior operators and Shift Supervisor.

Assist with running complex equipment runs, cleaning of equipment and tanks, data collection and packaging of final products.

Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained. Communicate with the process leader as required. Provide accurate and timely communication notes to Shift Supervisors and other team members.

Maintain the plant area of operation in clean and safe working conditions, including the cleanup of spills from processes.

Show a positive work attitude in performing assigned tasks. Work effectively with others as a team, and ensure positive and productive work relationships are maintained within the department and company.

Desired Qualifications:

High school diploma with above‑average mathematical skills; Diploma or Certificate in a related field is an asset.

Technical/mechanical aptitude.

Good attendance record.

Knowledge of plant safety, fire prevention, and lockout systems; safety conscious.

Knowledge of GMP, WHMIS, and HACCP.

Team player who works effectively with people and other groups, with a strong commitment to a team approach to problem solving.

Has a positive work attitude, shows initiative, and is able to work independently.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to operate in a stressful environment while staying calm and assessing what is required; ability to perform shift work.

Comfortable working with computer systems; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is an asset, along with a commitment to ongoing skill development.
