Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller to lead the finance and accounting function. This role combines day-to-day accounting leadership with strategic financial guidance to the executive team. The successful candidate will oversee full-cycle accounting for Canadian operations, coordinate financial matters related to U.S. operations, manage multi-currency cash flows, and provide analytical support for growth and acquisition initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations G Internal Controls
· Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
· Lead accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes and prepare consolidated financial statements.
· Manage cross-border accounting requirements, intercompany transactions, and USD/CAD reconciliations.
· Coordinate with external accounting professionals on annual tax filings, RCD tax credits, compliance matters, and related reviews.
Financial Planning G Analysis
· Prepare, monitor, and improve weekly and monthly cash-flow forecasts to support sound operational decisions.
· Lead annual budgeting and provide clear monthly variance analysis and financial insights to executive leadership.
· Identify practical opportunities for cost control, waste reduction, and improved operating efficiency across locations.
Acquisition G Growth Support
· Support financial due diligence, data collection, and analysis for potential Canadian and U.S. acquisitions.
· Develop financial models for integration costs, working-capital requirements, and post-acquisition performance.
· Support leadership in evaluating financing options and maintaining productive lender relationships.
Ǫualifications G Skills
· CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) is preferred; an equivalent combination of advanced education and strong hands-on corporate experience will also be considered.
· 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally in manufacturing, supply chain, or a growing small-to-mid-sized organization.
· Hands-on and adaptable approach, with the ability to move confidently between transactional accounting and complex financial planning.
· Experience with Canadian/U.S. corporate structures, multi-currency transactions, or multi-location operations is a strong asset.
· Strong proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and data analysis.
