The successful applicant will work closely with the Machine Safety Technical Lead/Winnipeg Group Manager. They will provide guidance and support on projects to our Machine Safety team and will travel to client sites as needed. Specifically, this may include:
- Perform risk assessments on industrial equipment to meet legislative and machine safety standard requirements, including CSA, ANSI and ISO standards (e.g. CSA Z432, ANSI B11, ISO 12100).
- Perform safety circuit verification and validation on safeguarding controls as required by ISO 13849.
- Prepare technical reports that meet legislative requirements, best practices, and client expectations.
- Prepare proposals and project budgets with assistance from Machine Safety Technical Lead.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work throughout the project life cycle. This includes being the primary contact for the client, distribute work to technicians, submit deliverables, and invoicing.
- Effectively manage client expectations, identify conflicting priorities, and resolve concerns.
- Maintain and enhance quality control for all project deliverables.
- Provide training to internal personnel and clients as needed.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for overtime work based on project needs. Travel between worksites will be required locally, as well as intermittent out-of-town travel to service clients across North America. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining time in our physical office, on-site visits to client locations, and the flexibility to work from home as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.; electrical preferred) registered with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with industrial equipment
- Experience with machine safeguarding assessments and knowledge of machine safety standards (CSA, ANSI, ISO) an asset
- Experience using CAD programs such as AutoCAD and TurboCAD an asset
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for local travel
- Able to travel and work extended hours if required for project needs
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint
- Manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Coachable with a positive work attitude
