Parkland C.L.A.S.S. has grown over five decades to become one of the largest disability based service providers in Alberta. Parkland C.L.A.S.S. exists to improve the quality of life of children & adults with developmental disabilities through: individual choice, dignity & rights. Parkland School serves approximately 20-25 children in a designated special education independent school setting designed to support children with complex physical and developmental disabilities. We are looking for experienced individuals to join our team, as Student Aides. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:45am to 3:15pm, 186 days per year.
Qualifications: You must bring a positive attitude and strong communication skills to support our student’s unique communication needs. You will actively assist with personal care (feeding and toileting), sensory regulation, academic practice, and community outings. Experience with children, complex developmental/physical disabilities, behaviour management and safe lifting/transferring training would be an asset.
Education & Experience: Completed High School Diploma or GED. Additional training in rehabilitation, early childhood, teacher`s assistant and/or special education is highly desirable. Knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal tradition and cultural ways is preferred. Minimum of 6 months of direct related experience. Some equivalency of experience and/or education may be accepted.
Wage: $17.35-18.85 per hour
