Reports to: Vice President of Commercialization & Procurement
Responsibilities:
-
Run a structured, proactive procurement function, managing and mentoring a small Sourcing team to facilitate cost effective acquisition of goods for the manufacturing process

Own vendor relationships for materials purchased for production of finished goods. Develop strategic partnership with critical vendor’s in key areas of the business to support day to day production and future growth.

Lead contract negotiations, both for long term supply agreements and ad-hoc production materials purchasing requirements.

Evaluate vendor core competencies, competitive positioning, and possible risks by conducting market research and developing and executing cost modeling.

Conduct commodity market risk analysis to inform hedging decisions and deliver supply certainty at favorable costs.

Identify cost savings opportunities and determine what contingencies exist to deliver them.

Conduct RFPs to identify the best sourcing option on price, reliability, and quality for the business.

Enhance customer relationships with the objective of reducing costs, growing business, and eliminating inefficiencies throughout the procurement cycle.

Match sales forecasts to material requirements and establish contracted coverage to ensure material availability and favorable cost of goods.

Coordinate projects to deliver successful results with commercialization, planning, finance, quality, operations, and sales teams.

Use research & data analysis to drive strategic decision making on sourcing ingredients and materials

Coordinate with the planning function on contracting of materials to ensure all requirements are confirmed, available, and delivered on time.

Manage material requirements with contract commitments. Fully understand and report on cost of goods used in production and forecast cost of goods based on futures market conditions.
Profile:
-
Bachelor's degree in business, management, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field is required
-
3-5 years of procurement related experience with demonstrated leadership skills is required
-
Graduate degree in business administration or a specialization in advanced procurement management is an asset
-
Strong proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel particularly) is mandatory. Experience in development and use of macros considered an asset.

Experience with Oracle Netsuite is an asset

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for coordination with all levels of organizational management

Ability to collect, track, and analyze large amounts of data using critical thinking and advanced problem-solving skills

Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills to mentor and lead staff. Enjoys collaborative work, deploying a team oriented approach

Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
-
Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Skilled in organization, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines for multiple tasks
