Position Overview
The Ontario Hockey Academy is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Facilities & Maintenance Worker. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on physical work, takes pride in keeping facilities looking their best, and can work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Painting & Touch-ups: Prep, prime, and paint interior walls, trim, doors, and exterior surfaces as needed to keep the campus looking fresh and well-maintained.
- General Cleaning & Janitorial: Clean and sanitize designated academy areas, which may include locker rooms, common areas, hallways, and administrative spaces.
- Outdoor & Grounds Cleanup: Maintain the exterior presentation of the academy. This includes clearing debris, maintaining walkways, emptying outdoor waste bins, and assisting with basic seasonal groundskeeping (e.g., raking, light snow clearing, or weeding).
- Minor Repairs & Maintenance: Assist with basic building maintenance tasks, reporting larger repair needs or safety hazards to management.
- Event Setup & Support: Help move furniture, equipment, or supplies to support academy events, hockey operations, and school activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in general maintenance, painting, or commercial cleaning is a strong asset, but we are willing to train the right individual.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, and standing/walking throughout the shift.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand tools, painting techniques, and standard cleaning equipment/supplies.
- Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Background Check: Because we operate a school environment with youth athletes, a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory.
